Equipment

Materials

  • tbsp Dried lemon balm
  • cup Hot water
  • slice Ginger (optional)
  • tsp Lemon juice (optional)
  • tsp Honey or stevia (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat water until just boiling, then let it cool slightly to about 85–90°C. This protects the nutrients in the lemon balm.
  • Place dried (or fresh) lemon balm in a cup or teapot. Pour the hot water over it. Cover and let it steep for 8–10 minutes.
  • Add a slice of fresh ginger, a squeeze of lemon juice, or a bit of honey/stevia if desired.
  • Strain the tea into a cup. Enjoy warm, ideally in the morning or before bedtime.

Notes

  • Tip: For iced tea, brew hot and chill in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours.
  • Storage: Store extra tea in the fridge in a glass container. Best consumed within 24 hours.
  • Substitution: You can blend lemon balm with chamomile or peppermint for different benefits.
  • Caution: Not recommended for people on thyroid medication or pregnant women without doctor consultation.
