Ingredients

  • 1 small head iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup banana peppers, sliced
  • 1 cup deli meats (ham, turkey, or salami), sliced
  • ½ cup provolone or mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • 1 Large mixing bowl – for tossing salad
  • 1 Small bowl – for mixing dressing
  • Whisk – to blend the dressing
  • Knife & cutting board – for chopping vegetables

Method

  1. Prepare all vegetables: shred the lettuce, slice the onion, halve the tomatoes, and chop the peppers.
  2. Add the vegetables, deli meats, and shredded cheese into a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  4. Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients. Toss well until evenly coated.
  5. Serve immediately, or let the salad chill in the fridge for about 10 minutes before serving for the best flavor.

Notes

  • To keep the salad fresh for meal prep, store the dressing separately and toss right before serving.
  • Spice it up by adding jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce.
  • Vegetarian option: Replace deli meats with chickpeas or roasted veggies.
